When will my Original ship?
Each Original is made to order. Production begins the week you reserve, and most orders ship within a week. Holiday Originals shipping in November and December are produced ahead and typically ship the same week.
How is the color so durable?
A color-infusion process permanently bonds your image into the surface of the hardwood — vivid, ultra-high-definition, scratch-proof, and fade-proof. It is the same class of process used for museum and gallery prints. The color is guaranteed for life.
How does the Lifetime Color Guarantee work?
Display your Whittled puzzle indoors and the color will not fade in your lifetime. If it does, we will remake it at no cost. No receipt required, no expiration date. See the full terms on our guarantee page.
What photo works best for a custom puzzle?
High-resolution, well-lit, with a clear subject. We send a photo guide when you sign up, and we review every image before production. Common issues we catch early: too dark, too soft, or a subject lost in a busy background.
How many pieces do your puzzles have?
Originals range from 425 to 750 pieces depending on the edition — each edition lists its piece count on the product page. Custom puzzles range from 250 to 1,000 pieces depending on tier and size.
Can I see the puzzle before it ships?
Yes — Signature and Heirloom custom puzzles include a digital design review before we cut. You approve the image crop, color balance, and composition before production begins.
What if I receive a damaged or missing piece?
We replace damaged or missing pieces at no cost. Email matt@whittledco.com with your order number and a description. We cut replacements and ship them promptly.
Do you offer wholesale or corporate gifting?

What is the difference between the Keepsake, Signature, and Heirloom tiers?
Keepsake ($99+) is a premium hardwood puzzle from one meaningful image — the clean starting point. Signature ($199+) adds enhanced image preparation, optional custom messaging, and themed whimsy piece direction. Heirloom ($249+) is a more involved commission with dedicated design review, custom whimsy authorship, and premium presentation for weddings, milestones, and client work.
Do the puzzles come ready to frame after they are solved?
Yes. Whittled puzzles are made with a hardwood surface substantial enough to frame and display. The finished piece is design-reviewed for gallery display before it leaves production. Standard puzzle frames sized to your puzzle dimensions work well.
What wood do you use?
We use real American hardwood selected for grain consistency and surface quality. The color-infusion process requires a smooth, dense substrate to hold the image at full fidelity — softwoods and composites cannot produce the same result.
Can I order a puzzle as a gift directly to someone else?
Yes — enter the recipient's shipping address at checkout. For custom puzzles, you can upload the photo and handle the order entirely; the recipient just receives the finished puzzle.
