When will my Original ship?
Each Original is made to order and ships in up to 14 days. Free U.S. shipping is included, and tracking is emailed when the order leaves the Ozarks workshop.
How is the color so durable?
Dye sublimation transfers the image into a receptive coating on the hardwood puzzle substrate rather than laminating a paper print on top. The finished image surface is backed by Whittled's lifetime color guarantee.
How does the Lifetime Color Guarantee work?
If the covered image surface fades, degrades, or separates under normal indoor display conditions, Whittled will remake the puzzle. See the guarantee page for coverage, exclusions, care guidance, and claim instructions.
What photo works best for a custom puzzle?
High-resolution, well-lit, with a clear subject. We send a photo guide when you sign up, and we review every image before production. Common issues we catch early: too dark, too soft, or a subject lost in a busy background.
How many pieces do your puzzles have?
Originals range from 425 to 750 pieces depending on the edition — each edition lists its piece count on the product page. Custom puzzles range from 175 to 1,000 pieces depending on tier and size.
Can I see the puzzle before it ships?
Signature includes active image preparation before production. Heirloom adds a dedicated design consultation and custom cut direction. If your image needs a decision from you, Whittled will contact you before cutting.
What if I receive a damaged or missing piece?
Email matt@whittledco.com with your order number, a description, and photos. We will arrange the appropriate replacement or remake under the returns policy. Because uploaded custom photos are deleted after the original order ships, a later custom remake may require you to resend the source file.
Do you offer wholesale or corporate gifting?

What is the difference between the Keepsake, Signature, and Heirloom tiers?
Keepsake ($99–$149) includes a production photo review and your choice of cut style. Signature starts at $199; its large format is currently $212 on preorder (regularly $249) and adds professional image preparation, themed cut direction, and gift-ready packaging. Heirloom starts at $249; its large format is currently $254 on preorder (regularly $299) and adds a dedicated consultation, individualized cut direction, and expanded presentation review. Large-format shipping is scheduled to begin in September 2026.
What custom puzzle cut styles can I choose?
Classic Interlock uses familiar interlocking pieces throughout. Signature Mix combines a familiar build with hidden story-shaped whimsy pieces and is the recommended default. Whimsy Forward creates the most irregular, discovery-rich build. The cut choice is included in every custom tier.
Do the puzzles come ready to frame after they are solved?
The completed puzzle can be kept assembled and displayed, but Whittled does not yet sell a frame or mounting kit. Match any frame to the exact finished dimensions and ask a framer about suitable backing and support. We are preparing a specific display guide.
What wood do you use?
Whittled uses a coated hardwood puzzle substrate selected for grain consistency, a smooth image surface, and precision laser cutting. Dye sublimation transfers the image into its receptive coating rather than laminating a paper print on top.
Can I order a puzzle as a gift directly to someone else?
Yes — enter the recipient's shipping address at checkout. For custom puzzles, you can upload the photo and handle the order entirely; the recipient just receives the finished puzzle.
