Our Promise
Lifetime Color Guarantee
Every Whittled puzzle is backed by a simple guarantee: if the color ever fades, degrades, or separates from the surface, we will remake it. No questions about when you bought it. No expiration date.
Why it's possible
Most photo products are printed — ink or dye applied to the surface of a substrate. The image sits on top of the material, which is why it can scratch, peel, and eventually fade.
Whittled uses a different process. Color is permanently infused into the hardwood using Chromaluxe dye-sublimation technology — the same process used by fine art print houses and professional photo labs. The dye bonds to the wood fibers under heat and pressure, becoming part of the surface rather than sitting on top of it.
The result is a puzzle that looks vivid in year one and year twenty. The color does not fade the way surface printing does, which is why we can back it with a lifetime guarantee without hedging.
What the guarantee covers
Color fading or darkening over time
Color peeling, flaking, or separating from the surface
Discoloration from normal indoor light exposure
Any visible degradation to the printed image under normal handling
What it does not cover
Physical damage — cracked, snapped, or lost pieces
Warping from extended moisture exposure
Damage from improper storage (direct sunlight, extreme heat)
How to make a claim
Email us at matt@whittledco.com with a photo showing the color issue and the name or occasion associated with your order. We will confirm the issue and arrange a remake. There is no fee.
We do not ask for proof of purchase or an original receipt. If you have a Whittled puzzle and the color has degraded, we want to fix it.
A note on caring for the puzzle
Store assembled puzzles in the box or flat in a dry location. If you display the finished puzzle on the wall, keep it out of direct sunlight — not because the color cannot handle normal light, but because the wood itself can warp over time in extreme conditions.
The puzzle surface is waterproof and can be wiped clean with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid submerging pieces or extended moisture exposure.
